\n

In 2010 Lincoln Shaw spent almost 3 months help ing disrupt a Japanese whaling fleet in Antarctica as a volunteer for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS). The Sea Shepherd’\;s missio n was to shut down the illegal Japanese whaling fleet and enforce internat ional conservation law with non-violent direct action techniques to stop t he killing of whales. Lincoln Shaw\, crew member and one of the drivers of the 81 day Bob Barker’\;s 2010 encounter\, will present his first-pe rson photographic account of the Sea Shepherd’\;s Antarctic Whale Def ense Campaign along with photos of his amazing up close encounters with se a lions\, elephant seals\, albatross\, and other Antarctic wildlife. As a member of the crew on the Bob Barker\, Lincoln dealt with violent storms i n the Southern Ocean\, where swells reached as high as 50 feet\, sustained winds of 50 –\; 60mph\, confrontations with the Japanese whaling boa ts\, and watching another boat\, the Andy Gil\, being rammed with men aboa rd and sunk. Surrounded by frozen beauty\, Shaw took photographs throughou t the journey and will reveal his story of what happened aboard the Bob Ba rker.

Note: No whales were killed during his watch and no brutal i mages will be shown during the presentation.
